Have the courage to be different and to be yourself. Write what you want and not as society wants you to write.
One resource I used to help guide me with the book sales is a person. Joanna Penn.
I began listening to Joanna’s podcast two to three years ago while driving from place-to-place—her new episodes are ones I look forward to each Monday morning. She has been immensely successful with her writing, her blog, her podcast, and more. She is a real inspiration to many, including me.
In her podcast, she interviews many people in this creative world: other authors, marketers, creators of writing tools, and more. I have learned a lot and that new knowledge has led to this website. I don’t do all she recommends (e.g., Kickstarter), but she is a real motivating source for new authors like me.
So, the quote above . . . these words, credited to Joanna, are ones that I have relied on quite a bit. I wrote Stealing Equity as a chance to create a world that resonated with me. The characters, while fictional, are ones I relate to. The process of writing about their individual redemption and the collective effort to dismantle a harmful organization was enjoyable, and it continues to make me happy when reflecting on them.
I can’t say for sure if this book or these stories will resonate with everyone, but they bring me immense joy . . . I hope they lead to a similar reaction for you.
