The Coach
Behind the Method
I still vividly remember the moment that changed everything. I was working with a high school soccer player—talented, driven, with dreams of playing in college—when she crumpled to the ground during a routine cut during a game. That distinctive “pop” seemed to echo across the field. Another ACL tear, her second in 18 months. As I looked into her eyes, I saw more than physical pain—I saw the crushing weight of a dream slipping away.
We know how to prevent many of these injuries. The research exists. So why are we failing these athletes?
That question became my mission. After twenty-five years as a sports physical therapist and strength coach, I’d seen too many careers cut short by preventable injuries. I founded the Injury Prevention Project because I believe deeply that every athlete deserves the knowledge and tools to stay healthy and pursue their passion without unnecessary risk.

David Potach
I’m David Potach, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping athletes perform at their best while staying injury-free. My journey began on the training fields of Creighton University, where I served as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach while completing my undergraduate degree. Those early years taught me something crucial: physical potential means nothing without durability.
Since earning graduate degrees in Physical Therapy and Exercise Physiology, I’ve worked with thousands of athletes across all levels, from young competitors just starting their journey to Olympians to elite professionals pushing the boundaries of human performance.
What drives me isn’t just helping athletes recover—it’s preventing them from needing to recover in the first place. This passion led me to co-author multiple books and research papers on injury prevention, speak internationally on sports rehabilitation, and eventually create the Injury Prevention Project to make evidence-based prevention accessible to everyone.
When I’m not developing prevention programs or coaching athletes, you’ll find me practicing what I preach—staying active through running, strength training, and challenging my own movement patterns. Because I believe that to help athletes perform their best, I need to understand their journey firsthand.
